I found some unexpected mail today... It was a ball over paper scrunched up around an empty candy wrapper... Someone creepily snuck into my appartment building and put something in my mailbox. Of course, I needed to use the front door key to their place to leave them candy in the first place and my mailbox is freely accessible, but still... way creepier than what I did. For sure...
As I unwrapped the little ball-packet, I cried a little. It was a simple but beautiful reminder of unconditional friendship and unimaginable understanding. I am lucky person indeed, and you are a really, really good friend. Thanks fore reminding me, sometimes I forget.
I love that this book is not only teaching me not to take the little things for granted (like trying to draw straight lines while on a train,
or my appreciation of fruit stickers. They are totally cute and little. Like miniature bumper stickers, or patches you used to sew on your bag when you were a young and confused Alternative kid. I love anything miniature. I have miniature shopping carts, for no reason, just because they are cute.)
This journal has also made me rediscover my appreciation for the larger things in life that sometimes get taken for granted without realising it.
Friends like these, they are hard to come by. Most of mine live in Canadia (yes, that is the correct spelling!), Aussieland or Ireland and are especially hard to keep in touch with. The effort they make to show me how much they love me sometimes overshadows the effort made by the amazing people that surround me right here at home.
Thank God for candywrappers and Journals of Destruction. I have taped the wrapping-paper page back into the journal as a symbol for creation and connectedness. Friends like you hold my world together, and I'm sorry it took a little destruction to realise it (again).
PS People should write eachother more letters. I have no stamps yet to put in my journal.
PPS Letters should always be accompanied by candybars, PS, PPS, PPPS, and PPPPSes.
PPS Mary and Max is a wonderful movie about a shitty world full of little miracles. (like you.)

Apologies and Wrapping Paper
So, I had a bit of an apology to make today and decided to do it in the form a little gift. As I had not brought any wrapping paper with me to Uni, taking the journal with me everywhere I go came in quite handy. Not that I expect to ever wrap anything in a page from a book again... Hopefully, the person in question appreciates the gesture of my apology, and of being included in my Wrecked Journal process.

Goodnight Journal, Sweet Dreams and Describe the Experience...
Tonight, I am taking my new journal to bed with me. It's been a cold and lonely end of summer in my double bed, and hopefully tonight I will sleep a bit better knowing I am not alone.
Although, I am still contemplating whether to interpret "sleep with the journal" as sleeping, or as making love to it; tomorrow, I will report on the experience, as per the instructions in the book. I suppose I'll start off with some pillowtalk and see where it goes from there. Don't know how this will go. I'm a bit rusty, and I've never been with a journal before...
Goodnight sweet Journal, Sweet Dreams.

Maybe I should just try this again when the journal and I know echother a little bit better. Maybe it'll warm up to me. Maybe I'll be able to cop a feel. Maybe it'll be all I've ever wanted... For now, I would prefer a half-sleepless night next to a warm (slightly hairy chested) man. He can even have the covers.

So, I didn't sleep alone last night. Well, sort of. My journal was there with me, I'm not sure if that qualifies as "not alone" though. It's been a while since I hadn't slept alone, and sleeping with the journal was nothing like I remember sleeping next to anyone is like. The journal doesn't say goodnight back, doesn't tell you about it's day before falling asleep, doesn't make any half-assed attempts at seduction despite being too tired because it really wants to squeeze one in. The journal also doesn't attempt to convince you there is time for sex before you have to get up for work, nor does it cuddle you.
Then again, it also doens't hog the covers, complain that it's too warm for cuddling, get headaches, twist and turn in it's sleep. Actually, the journal doesn't really do much of anything. I slept well and undesturbed.

In The Beginning....
It's here!
One post a week, if I can manage to pace myself. It's still rather pretty looking, and I actually found myself standing in the book store dissapointed that there was a bit of damage on some of the pages but I quickly realised I was being an asshat considering I am about to Wreck This Journal.

The pen is covering the spaces that ask for "Address" and "Phonenumber" for reasons I will not bother to explain. If you don't know why, perhaps it's a good time to rethink your presence on the internet.

The Beginning...
Life sucks. It really does, true story, sorry to ruin the surprise for you there... So to better enjoy the little things, I have come up with a little side project for myself, which I invite you all to pursue as well, and share with me through your own blog. I have just ordered myself "Wreck This Journal" at the local bookstore. This blog will serve to immortalize my process in ruining that book to the best of my ability. I will post at least once a week, possibly more.
